Lucy Marlin, Registered Psychotherapist (RP), CCC

*Lucy currently has a waitlist. Please phone or email to be put on her list. If you are a past client, please reach out and Lucy will do her best to get you in the schedule in a timely manner.

Lucy has the ability to establish her presence quickly and simultaneously as a supporter, a listener and a professional with the people she serves. What sets Lucy apart is that, upon commencement of a clinical relationship, people quickly let go, open up and don’t feel it necessary to be anyone but who they are.

Lucy has the ability to quickly recognize strengths in people even when those strengths are invisible to the individual, couple, family or team. She can identify these strengths and use them to make therapy goals achievable.

Lucy is a registered psychotherapist with the new College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (RP) and is a Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC) with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association.

Sheila Bowes, RP (Q), MEd, BEd, BPA

Welcome Sheila! Sheila is a mature and experienced person who is a Registered Psychotherapist [Qualifying]. Sheila joined the practice in January 2023 as a practicum student and has now graduated with Honours and is working as an associate at LILCS practicing psychotherapy with clients. Sheila sees clients virtually and is a supportive and skilled presence in sessions.

Sheila has spent years in the field of education, working as both a counsellor and professor. She operates from a compassion based lens, and sees therapy as collaborative and unique to each person.  She welcomes clients from all creeds, sexual
orientations and cultures and gravitates toward a Cognitive
Behavioural approach. In the past Sheila has worked with veterans
transitioning into civilian life, students with exceptionalities
(namely autism, learning disabilities and other cognitive
impairments), as well as individuals who are experiencing change or
uncertainty in their lives. Sheila prides herself on being a lifelong
learner with the recognition that clients are the experts in their own
lives. She believes that through a strong therapeutic partnership,
positive and lasting change is possible even in the most complex
situations.

Certification/Registration

Sheila is a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) with the College
of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO). She is also a
Certified Ontario Teacher with the Ontario College of Teachers (OCT).

Education

Sheila has completed a Master of Arts in Counselling
Psychology (MACP), through Yorkville University. Prior to this, she
completed a Master of Education from the University of Saskatchewan, a
Bachelor of Education at Lakehead University, and a Bachelor of
Professional Arts in Communications and Psychology through Athabasca
University. She holds additional education courses in working with
exceptional learners, special education, technology and Mental Health
First Aid.

Sheila looks forward to seeking continued education in trauma processing. She is a motivated learner who is constantly reading and seeking ways to improve her practice.

Experience

Sheila has worked in education for the past decade as a teacher,
professor, and counsellor. Initially beginning her journey as a
journalist, she loved hearing the stories of others, and providing a
channel for individuals to find their voice as well as the confidence
to be heard. It was during this time, in her early twenties, that she
fell in love with First Nation culture, spending much of her time
covering festivals and celebrations as well as more difficult times
within the community.

Eventually on a whim, she took a position teaching English as a Second
Language in China, and found that she was able to use her skills of
connecting with others quickly to help them learn and discover their
talents and abilities. Following this experience, she came back to
Ontario and furthered her education, becoming a teacher who was
immediately drawn to special education and non-traditional learners.
This would later lead to a position as a Disability Counselor and
Learning Strategist at Algonquin College. In this role, however,
Sheila noticed many students were presenting complex situations that
she was not as equipped to handle with her more academic focused
background. That led her to taking a leap to obtain graduate education
in counselling psychology.

With all of her coursework now behind her, she is excited to begin the
next chapter as a psychotherapist!

American author Henry David Thoreau once said, “Things do not change; we change.” Despite the early date of this quote neuroscience is now proving that due to brain plasticity, human beings that are troubled by addiction, trauma, depression, anxiety, eating disorders and personality difficulties can usually improve their lives with the help of cognitive based therapies.
